Foundation Licence: Information - obtaining your licence
AOCP(F)
When you receive your examination results from the
WIA (Wireless Institute of Australia) you can apply to the
ACMA (Australian Communications and Media Authority)
for an Operators Certificate of Proficiency “AOCP(F)” which is issued for free.
You can download the application form using the link on the information page or contact an ACMA office and ask them to send you one.
If your examination is being conducted by SRAG, an application form will be provided to you at your examination.
Note:
Your application to the ACMA must be accompanied by your original examination results
(sent to you from the WIA) and a passport-sized photograph of yourself signed across the front in permanent ink, in a place which does not obscure your image.
Your examination results document will be retained by ACMA.
Licence
To obtain your Amateur Radio Licence (actually, the ACMA calls this an “Apparatus Licence”)
you need to submit an “Application for Apparatus Licence” form along with the current fee.
You can download the application form using the link on the information page or contact an ACMA office and ask them to send you one.
If your examination is being conducted by SRAG, an application form will be provided to you at your examination.
Speed up the Licence Application process
We can send your application forms for the AOCP(F) and Apparatus Licence to the WIA when we send them your results. The WIA will forward both forms to
the ACMA along with your original examination results.
Note:
You will need to provide the licence fee ($62 in July 2007).
What Callsign?
As may know, all Foundation callsigns have four letters starting with “F” and prefixed by the state you live in.
So all South Australian Foundation callsigns will follow the format: VK5F???
You can, if you wish, ask for a specific callsign when you submit your Apparatus Licence application form.
To see if the callsign you would like is available, select one of the links below. A new browser window will open.
You are of course looking for all those that are “Foundation” which will appear at the end of the list.
